Angus James Schaefer

My work is a set of Kai Awase featuring common scenes, plants and animals ( 花鳥風月 )from the seasons of my home region, New England (the Northeast area of the United States). The shells are laid on a handcrafted wooden pedestal.

I am a research student from The United States studying Nihonga, Japanese Painting, at Tokyo University of the Arts. I hope to introduce Nihonga to more people in the United States, and in share my love for my home region of New England (the Northeast are of the United States) with Japanese Audiences.
