I think one of the first times I have really felt my culture was when I moved from La Provence to Paris. I grew up in the south of France and some of my vocabulary is not used in Paris, my accent was highlighted /sometimes mocked by some of the locals. In Paris I have started to host couchsurfers. As a couchsurfer there is a custom to bring something from your country. When I traveled and became a guest, I had to define how I can bring my own culture. Even if I lived for years in Paris, I wouldn’t even think of bringing a little Eiffel Tower. I have offered my own “La Provence cliche” : a little bag of lavender, to show my gratitude and to share the smell and the atmosphere of my Provence. I think it really defines how I “BYOne”!

I’m Cedric Rolando, also known as neoyume. Digital artist from France, living in Tokyo since 2017. Japanese video-games, music and anime have made me interested in Japanese culture, arts and language. Now that I’m living here, I feel Japan is a wonderful catalyst for artistic creation.
