To study brain tissues, we stain the brain with antibodies that bind to proteins. We can attach a fluorescent chemical to these antibodies so it will produce color when we view the brain in a microscope. With science, we know where the proteins will be located; the space it will occupy. With art, we can fill in those spaces with color by binding colored chemicals to proteins. When you combine art and science this way, itʼs like weʼre painting the brain with proteins! Please enjoy my exploration of neuroscience and see how I combine science art with paintings!

Ea Tulin (Experiments in Art)
Hi! My name is Dr. Ea Tulin, a Filipina living in Tokyo. I have a Ph.D. in Agriculture, major in Biochemistry. I worked on mouse brains during my Ph.D. and fell in love with microscopy. I created Experiments in Art (EA) as a project to share the beauty of biology through my lens! Science but make it fashion, Science but make it fun, Science but make it art. Whatever it is, Style it with Science!
